Celtic Knotwork Triquetra Penannular

  • £49.00
    Unit price per

A Penannular cloak pin whose design reflected the wealth, region, rank and importance of the wearer. Used to denote high or religious status.

As symbols of continuity, timelessness and eternity, knotwork and interlaced designs represent eternal spiritual development; life, death and rebirth, all points on a line without beginning or end. Knotwork is also representative of the connection between all of Creation, and is the supreme symbol of love and friendship. Symbolising eternal love, linking the mind, body and spirit, the Triquetra also represents the Triple Goddess (maiden, mother and crone), and was later adopted as the Trinity Knot, blessing and invoking the Holy Trinity of Christianity.
